DEEP DIVE 2: INCLUSIVE MARKETING
Society has become a place where diversity is the rule, not the exception. However, there are still some barriers to work on. With his agency ‘Allyens’ Taha Riani focuses on making contacts and puts you on the road to progress with inclusive communication. Ask Riani all your questions and learn how you can communicate in a more inclusive way yourself during this Inclusive Marketing workshop.
Managing partner Allyens
Taha Riani is founder and managing partner of the Antwerp creative agency Allyens. For four years now, he has been building the – sometimes wild – path to inclusive communication. But what does inclusive communication actually mean? Allyens helps companies and organizations to tailor their messages and campaigns to the diversity of society. It is a challenge, a mission and Taha has a firm belief that inclusion works and exclusion does not.
People often reduce the identity of another person to one particular label. Taha experienced this himself continuously. It was his frustration at this that prompted him to act. He wanted to get rid of that label. On April 1, 2015, Taha launched mvslim.com, a website that breaks the stereotype of Muslims by sharing positive information. The site reaches 10 million people a month and the New York Times, the BBC and Al-Jazeera, among others, have published their articles.
That same year, Allyens was born, with the same mission: get to know your target group, avoid judging and adjust your communication by focusing on the similarities instead of the differences. Allyens’ approach proved successful, as the agency was picked up by the prestigious business magazine Forbes and Taha landed on the 30under30 list in the media and marketing category. The list rewards the most talented, young innovators from different categories in Europe.
Connecting people across differences: it pays off. Barely four years after Allyens launched, the agency has convinced clients such as Colruyt, Brussels Airport, Unilever, Johnson&Johnson, BNP Paribas and many others that inclusive communication works.
